We have many packages & promotions.

I started this studio with my son when he was just 3.  I was a full time single mother who had horrific lyme disease, and also a long time local who knew and empathized with the community.  As I talked to more and more people I knew that hot yoga was the answer not only to my Lyme disease and the struggles I felt as a single mom, but also to the problems of the community such as marital struggles, parenting, fatigue, tired and achy bodies, along with the tons and tons of emotional pain that I would hear about when talking with the local community.  I was fortunate enough to fall in love with exercise science and nutrition at a very young age, but when learning about yoga in my late teens/ early 20s, I knew I had finally found the whole package.  Now, over two decades later I consider myself a yogic scientist and have continued to educate myself in over 25 different healing methods.  I find value in learning from the students and passion in my teaching programs.  My confidence in what we do Foundations is my calling.  Every student is a treasure and an opportunity for me to learn and grow beside them.

With Love,

Carol

New Student Tips

  • No One Is Looking

Everyone is very welcoming and focused on their own practice. No one is watching what the person next to them is doing as they are focused on their own practice.

Everyone is on their own journey and we embrace everyone whether you are new or an experienced yogi!

  • Hydrate

Hydrate for the 24-28 hours leading into a class. For Hot Yoga Classes, aim for 1-2 Liters during the day of/evening before class. Also most feel better refraining from heavy alcohol drinking the night before.

  • Keep Your Food Light Before Yoga

Everyone is different, but many feel better refraining from eating or only a light healthy snack the hour before practice.

  • Sweating Is Good

When you are going to a hot yoga class, do NOT wipe your sweat as it helps keep your body cooler. Your body knows what is doing!

  • Listen To Your Body

Your yoga class is a time for you! Listen to your body if you need to take a break or modify. Many times the instructor will offer scalable options, but you are always welcome to take a break and sit down, do childs pose or drink water. It is not a race, so take a breathe and relax and enjoy your practice!

  • Just Breathe.

Breath will help you relax and expand into your poses. Breathing can help remove tension and any stretching discomfort. Make sure to take long deep breathes. If you are ever out of breath, then listen to your body and slow down.

Commonly Asked Questions

  • Welcome! Most of our classes are scalable and instructors offer options for students that are newer.

Chair yoga, Vin/Vin and Gentle Yoga classes are the easiest classes for those that are new to exercise, recovering from and injury or looking for relaxing yoga practices. Hot 26 Yoga is slow paced and the higher heat actually helps prevent injury. In hot yoga, instructors will teach you how to modify poses for less intensity. When you need a break, we welcome you to sit, take a child’s pose or do one of the recommended modifications. Feel free to tell your instructor you are new before class so they can offer you additional modifications.

  • Most students bring their own mat, but we do have mats available to borrow. Make sure to bring a bottle of water! Many like to bring a small towel for hot yoga. We have bolsters and blocks for you to use to help modify classes.

  • We recommend you come 10 minutes before your class so you can sign in on the ipad when you first walk in our doors. There are cubbies for your shoes and anything you are not bringing into the studio.

  • Comfortable, Flexible Clothing

Most find that tight, moisture wicking apparel the best. Certain positions have the student inverted and loose fitting shirts can fall in front of the face and be distracting. Most students prefer being barefoot during practice.

Aerial yoga does require you to also remove any loose jewelry or rings so they don’t get stuck in the silks

  • There are links on the top of this page. But the most seamless way to sign up for a Foundations Island Yoga Class is in our app. Search "Foundations Island Yoga" to download in the Apple App store or Android App Play Store.

  • Do not fear heat. The warmth helps our students stretch and prevent injury. You also get a better workout with doing less motion.

Hot 26 is 102 Degrees. Melt is 85-90 Degrees. I.B.EXtreme is 75 degrees. Flow temperature varies. Yin and Aerial are non-heated.

  • We do ask students to try to be 10 minutes early or on time so that you can get checked in and everyone can adjust their mats to make sure everyone has space. That said, we do let students join up to 10 minutes late.

  • Yoga is easy on joints so you can actually practice yoga every day! You will not need rest or recovery days from yoga unlike other exercise programs. If you are tight from a class, then yoga will actually help your muscles stretch and feel better by going more. The more you practice the more benefits you will see!

  • For most, yoga can be beneficial and practiced during your entire pregnancy. Some poses are modified slightly to accommodate the growing baby. For example, instead of doing a savasana (laying on your back) on the end of the class we recommend taking a side savasana (laying on your side). Please feel free to tell your instructor so they can offer alternative modifications.

We do ask pregnant students to AVOID aerial yoga until post baby.

We recommend consulting your doctor if you have any concerns.

  • Yoga has many healing benefits. Engaging in Hot Yoga sessions enhances your overall circulation, subsequently accelerating the healing process of injuries and fortifying the immune system. If you are apprehensive about pre-existing injuries or illnesses, don't hesitate to get in touch with us! We are committed to providing tailored modifications for specific postures until you are ready to practice them as originally intended. Embrace your current capabilities while nurturing the understanding that your potential will expand as you progress on your healing journey.

  • Just as strength and endurance are developed gradually, flexibility is also cultivated over time. Engaging in regular yoga practice offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your flexibility. Through consistent dedication and a patient mindset, you can experience a greater sense of openness in your body. In our diverse range of classes, you'll also have the chance to tailor the intensity of your poses, enabling you to stretch according to your body's unique capabilities on any given day.

  • For our normal classes children must be at least 8 years old with an adult and at least 12 years old without an adult. We do sometimes offer specialty kid classes. Please email for more details or check our event section.
